Our factory has two sulfur treatment units, each designed by a different design institute; the water in the water seal tank designed by one institute is fresh water, while that in the tank designed by another institute is demineralized water. May I ask, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Is demineralized water used in the water seal tank to prevent scaling inside the tank?
Desalinated water can prevent scaling, and fresh water is unstable; frequent maintenance shutdowns of the fresh water supply in our plant lead to the leakage of exhaust gases. Additionally, using stripped water for purification can also help save energy
Fresh water has high hardness, which can cause scaling; If it is a water seal for an acidic water storage tank, purified water can be used
Fresh water will develop scale over time
Considering water purification by stripping is a good option for saving energy and reducing consumption.

The stripped and purified water should contain no coke powder; otherwise, it will be difficult to handle once blockages occur. 2. Fresh water is fine; we’ve used it for ten years with no problems. 3. During maintenance, a shortage of fresh water can lead to the leakage of exhaust gases, resulting in strong unpleasant odors at the site; you can use fire-fighting water during maintenance (by connecting a temporary line).
