Our company has designed a stripping reboiler at the bottom of the stripper, but there is also another stream of stripping steam; this steam line enters the tower through only one gate valve, with no control valve installed. What is the purpose of such a design? How should I proceed?
This is used for the distillation tower during shutdown, right?
I think it should be, but the design specifications mention stripping steam; if it said purge steam, it would be easier to understand
You can change the way you think about it and consider it as steam used for shutdown stripping as well.....;P
I have been exposed to stripping regeneration before and have also looked up relevant information; some methods use stripping steam, while others involve the use of reboilers, or the stripping steam technique is replaced by a reboiler. I’m a bit confused regarding these two design approaches, but my idea is similar to yours. . . . ;
It should be the purge steam used during shutdown; if its diameter is similar to that of the reboiler, it might be able to replace the reboiler
It can also be used in normal production, with steam being fed directly into the tower for stripping instead of using a reboiler for heat exchange. Some steam can be saved, but when the steam turns into water upon entering the tower, it increases the amount of water that needs to be purified.
