Protection with air or nitrogen is necessary; this is done to prevent sulfur from causing blockages, as well as to avoid overheating due to thermal radiation. We once kept the furnace shut down for 24 hours, during which the temperature dropped to 520°C. (Out of concern that it wouldn’t start up again if acidic gases were introduced directly, we resumed operation immediately. At that time, there were two sulfur processing systems that could be used in alternation; if we had to restart after keeping the furnace shut down and then use fuel gas to raise the temperature, it would have been troublesome.) However, our initial temperature wasn’t high either; it was likely below 1100 degrees. The mixing valve should be fully closed when the furnace is idling.
Can burning hydrogen be used to keep the furnace warm?
Are there any important materials on learning about sulfur? I want to learn about it
Burning hydrogen does not involve holding the furnace at a constant temperature. The sulfur production furnace does not have a process for burning hydrogen alongside it, but it does have fuel gas
