I was wondering if anyone has ever encountered abnormal noises coming from large floating roof storage tanks for crude oil. Such noises can be heard occasionally; due to the large size of these tanks – with a diameter of 80 meters and a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters – it’s difficult to determine the source of the noise, and the occurrence of such noises isn’t regular either. Could anyone help analyze what might be causing this? The oil tank area is not far from the sea, with a small hill beside it.
It might be caused by thermal expansion and contraction. For storage tanks of this size, settlement monitoring should be carried out regularly
That’s too general – what kind of abnormal sound, during the deceleration phase? During fueling? Are there any tasks or activities to be done during mixing or similar times?
This sound occurs both during tank operations and when the tank is at rest, regardless of whether oil is being received or delivered; it is a short sound, similar to the sound of \"Dong\"
