For the pressure pipes in liquefied gas storage facilities, the stainless steel 304 pipes designed by the design institute have a wall thickness of 4 millimeters for DN200 sizes – is that too thin? Perhaps theoretical calculations meet the requirements, but from a practical perspective: 1) Is it convenient to purchase pipes with such thin walls? 2) Could welding such thin-walled pipes present difficulties during construction? 3) Will the wall thickness of elbows and tees be compatible? In other words, are there elbows available with this thickness? I would appreciate some advice from experts!
From a practical purchasing perspective, all of this is unnecessary worry! Wall thickness of 4 millimeters – the most conventional thing there is.
We have also worked on DN1000 pipes, with a thickness of 3.2; the elbows were not a matching size, while the thickness was 15
Material 304, DN200, with a thickness of 4 layers – that is 219*4. This wall thickness is standard; our factory produces it frequently, and there are no issues with welding. It can be manufactured on an ongoing basis; it’s very easy to produce, and it’s no problem to handle dozens of tons per day.
It’s stainless steel, free from corrosion; no need to account for a corrosion allowance. It’s a seamless tube, right? Not a welded straight-seam tube. The design institute is responsible for this, so what are you afraid of? There were no difficulties with welding; the thin-walled tubes suffered some deformation during alignment, but argon shielding was provided effectively inside, and the wall thicknesses were all in accordance with the specifications.
