There is still a difference between vaulted tanks with floating disks and floating-roof tanks. It should be necessary to check the breathing condition and whether the storage tank will get stuck.
Then it should be changed to an internal floating roof, and a design institute needs to be consulted to issue a change order.
General procedures for converting dome tanks into internal floating roof storage tanks (for reference): 1. Create air vents (400*700) along the upper circumference of the tank wall, with intervals of no more than 10 meters between each vent; install an even number of vents facing each other. (If a nitrogen sealing process is used, this step can be omitted.) 2. Remove the existing breather valve from the middle of the tank top and replace it with a central ventilation hole with a diameter of approximately 250 mm. (Use a nitrogen sealing process to replace the breathing valve.) 3. A high-position manhole is installed on the tank wall, at a distance of 2400 mm from the bottom of the tank; it can be opened or left closed. According to the standards, it should be open to facilitate inspection of the floating disk; otherwise, one would have to go from the top of the tank down to the floating disk at the bottom. For high-position manholes, manholes with cores are used. 4. Add one low-level manhole to the tank wall installation. Since there is usually only one dome tank, an additional low-level manhole needs to be created at the opposite axis position to facilitate maintenance, ventilation, and exhaust. 5. The tank wall should be polished to meet the requirements of GB50341 standards; protrusions such as weld seams must not exceed 1 mm. For stainless steel mechanical seals or seals with high compensatory elasticity, the tolerance can be relaxed to 2–3 mm. 6. If there are radar guide tubes or protective sleeves for servo level gauges inside the tank, it is necessary to check the verticality of these tubes; a deviation of 10 mm is allowed. 7.
