In daily life, we come into contact with many chemicals; information about some of them can be found in MSDS documents, but for others such information is either unavailable or incomplete. In reality, it has also been found that some information is incorrect, causing certain disruptions or misguidance. When searching on the Internet, there is also a lot of content that simply repeats what others have said. For example, the physical and chemical properties of trichloroethylene found online are almost identical; there is no difference between them. However, during one inspection, an expert said that there must be something wrong with the explosion limit specified in our safety data sheet for trichloroethylene – it’s impossible for the range to be as wide as 12.5–90%! The problem now is that we rely on the internet to find out the physical and chemical properties of many products; to be honest, things that are free may not be reliable either. Some accident reports in recent years have also indicated that free materials found on the Internet contain many errors, and may instead pose a danger to us. So, how exactly can one obtain complete and accurate physical and chemical properties of chemicals?
According to the available information, the explosion limit is “12.5%–90%”. It’s unclear what basis experts have for believing this to be incorrect; the product supplier can also provide MSDS data.
