I have a simple question for everyone: if a newly built factory doesn’t have a fuel gas pipeline network, can methanol or other substances be used as the fuel gas for the flare? Are there any specific requirements for selecting the fuel gas for the torch? Thank you all.
Is the poster referring to the fuel for the eternal flame? I’ve never seen liquid materials used as fuel for the constant-flame torch.

The situation is as follows: at present, the source of liquefied gas has not been determined. There is a small amount of methanol produced as a by-product that is difficult to dispose of, so I would like to ask whether methanol could be used as fuel for the permanent flame in the flare
An elevated torch or a ground torch? As an important facility in a factory, the torch should be properly considered during the design phase; yet problems still arise during production. Was the principle of simultaneous design, construction, and operation not followed? Natural gas is the best fuel for perpetual lighting, but the chemical plant didn’t even consider using natural gas pipelines – isn’t it located in a chemical industrial zone? To vaporize methanol, it is necessary to maintain a temperature of over 70 degrees across all the equipment and pipelines; otherwise, partial cooling and liquefaction may occur. If too much liquid forms, there will be a fire explosion, while if too little forms, the process will stop. The temperature also drops at the throttling device, making it difficult to control the situation – proper design is required.
It’s a ground torch. It is currently in the feasibility study phase, and there is no suitable use for the low-purity methanol produced as a by-product of this facility. Some people have suggested that it could be used as fuel for surface flares, or mixed with natural gas

In principle, any gas with sufficient calorific value and pressure can be used as fuel gas for an eternal flame. The calorific value should be no less than 7880 kJ/Nm3, with an operating pressure of around 0.2–0.4 MPa (G). If there are fluctuations in the calorific value or pressure, corresponding adjustments to the pilot light structure are necessary.
