I’ve only been in the design industry for a short time and am still a complete beginner. I have a few quite basic questions that I’d like to ask the experts here; I hope they can help me figure them out. I am currently working on a tank farm design, and I have the following questions: 1. For example, there are two gasoline tanks and one centrifugal pump; the gasoline is delivered from the reforming unit. Should the fuel be fed into both tanks simultaneously, or should it first be poured into one tank and only after that into the second tank? 2. Can the storage tank take in material while discharging it? 3. All four gasoline storage tanks are equipped with nitrogen seals. When calculating the nitrogen consumption, should it be the sum of the discharge volumes from all four tanks, or just the discharge volume of one tank? 4. Storage tanks for different oil products are all equipped with purging systems. Should the purging be carried out simultaneously, or for multiple tanks containing the same type of oil at once, or one after another? According to the standards, the speed of steam purging must be no less than 30 m/s. Does this refer to a flow velocity of no less than 30 m/s at the DN25 fitting, or a flow velocity of no less than 30 m/s in the DN50 steam pipeline? How to calculate steam consumption? Except during startup, the maintenance and purging of storage tanks are generally carried out in a sequential manner, one tank at a time, to ensure that there are available tanks in emergency situations while also reducing waste of oil at the bottom of the tanks.
