**The State Administration for Market Regulation, in conjunction with the Standardization Administration Committee, issued the \"Announcement on Approving the Release of 26 Mandatory Standards and 2 Amendments to Mandatory Standards\" (No. 31 of 2020), which includes 4 mandatory standards related to personal protective equipment. This standard is very important for determining how to select, dispose of, replace, and manage personal protective equipment All enterprises must re-equip themselves with labor protection supplies in accordance with the standards; this has been implemented since January 1, 2022! This standard is divided into 4 parts: Specifications for the provision of personal protective equipment. Part 1: General provisions; Specifications for the provision of personal protective equipment. Part 2: Specifications for the provision of personal protective equipment in the petroleum, chemical, and natural gas industries. Part 3: Specifications for the provision of personal protective equipment in the metallurgy and non-ferrous metals industries. Part 4: Revisions. The management and provision of personal protective equipment are an important part of safety production efforts. When management methods and technical measures cannot completely eliminate the dangerous and harmful factors in production, wearing personal protective equipment becomes the last line of defense for workers to protect themselves from accidents, reduce injuries, and ensure their own safety and health. Currently, the standards for equipping personal protective equipment are GB/T 11651-2008 \"Specifications for the Selection of Personal Protective Equipment\" and GB/T 29510-2013 \"Basic Requirements for the Equipping of Personal Protective Equipment\". GB/T 11651-2008 and GB/T 29510-2013 respectively provide basic guidance on how employers should select and provide personal protective equipment. However, they lack specific management requirements for employers and relevant safety regulatory authorities regarding the provision of personal protective equipment, thus offering little practical guidance. In accordance with laws and regulations such as China’s Work Safety Law, Labor Law, and Law on the Prevention and Control of Occupational Diseases, it is a mandatory requirement for employers to provide workers with qualified personal protective equipment. Specifications for the Provision of Personal Protective Equipment – Part 1: General Provisions GB 39800.1-2020. The standard \"Specifications for Personal Protective Equipment – Part 1: General Provisions\" is based on the principles outlined in GB/T 11651-2008 \"Specifications for the Selection of Personal Protective Equipment\" and GB/T 29510-2013 \"Basic Requirements for the Provision of Personal Protective Equipment.\" It provides comprehensive guidelines on how employers and relevant authorities should select, provide, and manage personal protective equipment. It serves as a standard basis for employers to supply such equipment in accordance with the specified standards, for oversight bodies to conduct inspections based on these standards, and for manufacturers to produce equipment that meets these standards; it also helps in making judgments when issues arise. This standard specifies the general requirements for the provision of personal protective equipment (i.e., occupational protective gear), including principles and procedures for provision, identification and assessment of hazard factors in the workplace, selection of personal protective equipment, traceability, disposal and replacement, as well as training and usage. This standard applies to the provision and management of personal protective equipment in various employers’ organizations, but it does not apply to the provision and management of fire-related personal protective equipment in such organizations. Specifications for the Provision of Personal Protective Equipment – Part 2: Petroleum, Chemicals, and Natural Gas. GB 39800.2-2020 \"Specifications for the Provision of Personal Protective Equipment – Part 2: Petroleum, Chemicals, and Natural Gas\" sets out the general requirements for the provision of personal protective equipment (i.e., labor protection gear) by employers in the petroleum, chemical, and natural gas industries, as well as guidelines for identifying and assessing hazard factors and for selecting appropriate personal protective equipment. This standard applies to the provision and management of personal protective equipment for employers in the petroleum, chemical, and natural gas industries; it does not apply to the provision and management of fire-fighting personal protective equipment for such employers. Specifications for the provision of personal protective equipment – Part 3: Metallurgy and non-ferrous metals. GB 39800.3-2020 “Specifications for the provision of personal protective equipment – Part 3: Metallurgy and non-ferrous metals” stipulates the general requirements regarding the provision of personal protective equipment (i.e., labor protection articles) by employers in the metallurgy and non-ferrous metals industries, as well as the identification of hazard factors and the selection of appropriate personal protective equipment. This standard applies to the provision and management of personal protective equipment for employers and their employees in the metallurgy and non-ferrous metals industries; it does not apply to the provision and management of fire-related personal protective equipment for employers in the mining and mineral processing industries, as well as those in the metallurgy and non-ferrous metals industries. Specifications for the Provision of Personal Protective Equipment – Part 4: Non-coal Mines GB 39800.4-2020 \"Specifications for the Provision of Personal Protective Equipment – Part 4: Non-coal Mines\" sets out the general requirements for the provision of personal protective equipment (i.e., labor protection gear) in employers within the non-coal mine industry, as well as the identification of hazard factors and the appropriate provision of personal protective equipment. This standard applies to employers in non-coal mines, including those in the metal mining, non-metallic mining, and hydrocarbon industries, as well as to energy mines other than coal and oil and gas, regarding the provision and management of personal protective equipment for their employees; it does not apply to the provision and management of fire-related personal protective equipment for employers in the non-coal mine industry.
