Recently, I was working at CCIC on the documentation related to the import and export of ethylene and propylene, and the forms asked about the state of the substance during transportation. I would like to ask whether there are differences under various conditions – for example, what is the proportion of the substance in liquid or gas form? Or do different ship types and transportation conditions result in different proportions?
There are different states under different conditions
The main state of the substance is liquid, with only a very small amount vaporizing during transportation.
This relates to the storage and transportation of liquefied gases. Large liquefied gas carriers are equipped with cooling systems that maintain a low temperature, thereby preventing the liquefied gases being transported from evaporating too quickly or in large quantities, while also keeping the storage tanks at appropriate temperatures and pressures. As for the gas-liquid ratio inside the storage tank, it needs to be determined based on the temperature and pressure of the tank; such large storage tanks are equipped with liquid-level monitoring systems.
