A methanol project that produces gas from coal on a scale of millions of tons is currently operating at partial capacity. During production, the hydrogen content in the recycled gas often exceeds that in the fresh gas, which leads to a rapid increase in pressure in the subsequent systems. A higher hydrogen content in the recycled gas compared to that in the fresh gas usually indicates a low hydrogen-to-carbon ratio in the fresh gas, resulting in a shortage of hydrogen. Possible reasons include: 1. High levels of CO or CO2 in the freshly synthesized syngas, with these components being converted into hydrogen in the recycled gas. 2. There may be issues in the syngas production process, resulting in insufficient hydrogen generation. It is recommended to check and adjust the following aspects: 1. Adjust the hydrogen-to-carbon ratio in the fresh gas to ensure an adequate supply of hydrogen. 2. Check the syngas production process (such as water-gas reaction conditions) and optimize the operating conditions. 3. Monitor and control the use and treatment of recycled gas to prevent excessive system pressure caused by abnormal components in the recycled gas. In this way, attempts can be made to address the issues of high hydrogen content and rising system pressure. .
It seems like you said the opposite here? A higher hydrogen content in the recycled gas compared to that in the fresh gas indicates that the hydrogen-to-carbon ratio in the fresh gas is high; as CO or CO2 is consumed in the recycled gas, an excess of hydrogen remains.
