It’s as if the operators are equipped with ‘smart eyes’, which makes things much easier!” On April 10th, in the control room of the storage and transportation workshop at the natural gas purification plant of the Puguang branch of Zhongyuan Oilfield, Pang Zixiao, the deputy chief engineer in charge of process technology, pointed at the newly installed video displays, clearly excited. Recently, the plant successfully completed the upgrade of the video surveillance system for its sulfur processing unit; the new generation of \"high-definition digital cameras + high-definition displays\" has now been put into use, marking new progress by the plant in advancing the development of a digital factory and enhancing its inherent safety levels. The plant’s original storage and transportation system video surveillance system was established in 2009; the remote cameras were ordinary analog signal cameras, while the display screens in the control room consisted of a matrix wall made up of 14 46-inch analog signal displays. Over time and with the advancement of technology, this system has gradually shown issues such as low image resolution and poor color reproduction. The new system resulting from this upgrade features industry-leading high-definition digital cameras and 4K ultra-high-definition display technology, with its display screen consisting of 4 100-inch LCD screens seamlessly combined together. The new system boasts a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, resulting in a 400% improvement in image clarity. Key details such as pressure gauge readings and the status of valve openings can be displayed with precision. It supports HDR high dynamic range imaging, enabling the production of high-quality images even in environments with complex lighting conditions. Thanks to its high degree of integration, each display screen can show the operational status of various components such as sulfur molding units, conveyor belts, and sulfur storage bins, making it easier for operators to monitor and control these systems both locally and remotely. In addition, the new system also has eye-care features that can effectively relieve eye fatigue among operators who spend long periods looking at screens. Tests have shown that the new display achieves a color reproduction accuracy of 98%, with image latency kept within 200 milliseconds, thus ensuring the real-time nature and accuracy of the surveillance footage. After the new system was put into operation, it received unanimous praise from the employees. Liang Guangqiang, deputy director of the storage and transportation workshop at the factory, explained that the new system features larger screens, with images that are more intuitive, detailed, and clear. It also allows for flexible switching of signal sources, thereby significantly improving the monitoring quality.
