On May 25, 2025, the electrification improvement project, a key initiative carried out concurrently during the major maintenance period at Jinxi Petrochemical Company in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, was completed as planned and put into operation successfully. This marks a significant step forward in the company’s efforts to optimize its energy structure and pursue green, low-carbon development. It is reported that this project is a key initiative undertaken by Jinxi Petrochemical to implement the strategy aligned with the **\"dual carbon\" goals, and to carry out the tasks related to carbon peak and carbon neutrality as outlined in the company’s 14th Five-Year Development Plan. As Jinxī Petrochemical’s operations continue to expand, the demand for electricity increases, and there is a need to phase out and replace energy-intensive equipment; therefore, increasing the degree of electrification in its refining units is a key measure to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. This renovation project focuses on improving the efficiency of the coking unit at Jinxi Petrochemical. By installing advanced electric centrifugal compressors to replace the existing steam-driven compressors, it aims to reduce the overall energy consumption of the coking unit from the source. This transformation is not only a technical upgrade of the equipment but also an important innovation in energy management concepts. After the project was put into operation, the electrification rate of the coking unit at Jinxi Petrochemical increased from 9.35% before the renovation to 20.73%. The significant increase in electrification rate has facilitated the optimization of the company’s energy consumption structure; steam consumption has decreased markedly, which has helped to reduce the steam balance pressure across the plant, thereby providing a solid foundation for stable production. Since the project was launched in July 2023, all tasks have been carried out in an orderly manner according to the scheduled timelines. The design phase is carefully planned, the construction process is thorough and meticulous, on-site management is systematic and orderly, equipment supply is timely and accurate, and all aspects work in close coordination to create a strong collective effort. The successful commissioning of this project to increase the electrification rate represents another significant achievement in energy conservation and consumption reduction at Jinxi Petrochemical.
