From the old factory site in Yongjing County, Linxia Prefecture, to the new base in the Baiyin High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, the relocation and transformation process of Gansu Liuhua (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Liuhua Company) represents not only a shift in the location of production facilities but also a practical example of industrial upgrading and a change in driving forces for development. As a key project for the relocation and renovation of hazardous chemical enterprises in densely populated urban areas of Gansu Province, Liuhua Company achieved safe shutdown of its entire operations by March 31, 2025. Under the coordinated efforts of Gansu Energy and Chemical Group, it efficiently completed critical tasks such as deactivation of the production facilities, reassignment of employees, and environmental cleanup, thereby laying a solid foundation for the company’s transformation and upgrading. Meanwhile, Liuhua Chemical Co., Ltd. of Jingyuan Coal Industry Group, which is tasked with carrying out the relocation and renovation efforts, has made rapid progress on the construction of new facilities. The first phase of this project began trial production in March 2025, while the second phase is now in the equipment installation stage, with operation expected to start in October 2026. Upon completion of all the projects, the facility will have an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, 700,000 tons of urea, 100,000 tons of methanol, 150,000 tons of concentrated nitric acid, 200,000 tons of compound fertilizers, as well as a variety of high-value chemical products. This will help to further develop the integrated industrial chain of \"coal – chemicals – fine chemicals,\" thereby injecting new momentum into the development of Gansu’s modern chemical industry. In terms of staff placement, Liuhua Company adheres to the principle of \"putting people first and ensuring a smooth transition.\" By combining overall transfers with internal retirement programs, it ensures proper placement for all employees. Of these, 966 employees were successfully transferred to Liuhua Chemical, allowing for a seamless continuation of their roles and thus providing a talent pool to support the company’s ongoing operations. In terms of production and operation, LiuHua Chemical emphasizes both technological innovation and energy conservation. By optimizing process parameters and strengthening equipment management, its comprehensive energy consumption for ammonia synthesis is well below the industry standards, reflecting the characteristics of a modern chemical enterprise that operates in an environmentally friendly and efficient manner. The brand products of \"Yellow River\" and \"LiuHua\" continue to hold a dominant position in the regional market, and the company’s development trend is stable and positive. In the future, Liuhua Chemical will focus on the development plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan, aiming for higher sophistication, greener practices, and greater efficiency. It will prioritize the development of high-value-added products such as fine chemicals and new materials, continue to work toward the clean and efficient conversion of coal, and strive to become a model chemical enterprise at the national level, thereby making greater contributions to the high-quality development of Gansu Energy and Chemical Group.
