According to Sinochem New Network, recently Bolloré announced that, in collaboration with Honeywell, it has successfully completed a proof of concept for AI-driven autonomous operation at its production facility in Ruves. This project marks substantial progress by the company in developing the first full-scale real-time AI control room for the petrochemical industry. Results of the tests conducted in a production environment show that this technology has the potential to increase operational efficiency by up to 20%, improve reliability by reducing downtime by 20%, and possibly lower operating costs by 15%. This technology can also enhance process safety and support more sustainable operations by significantly reducing energy consumption and related emissions. Borouge’s CEO said that this project is a core component of Borouge’s “Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization and Technology” initiative, aimed at creating value through a range of AI and digitalization initiatives. The head of Honeywell’s Process Automation business said that this collaboration demonstrates that AI-driven autonomous operations can be safely and effectively applied in real production environments, highlighting the great potential of advanced connected solutions in improving efficiency, reliability, and operational performance. Following the completion of the proof of concept, Bolloré will proceed with related work to further demonstrate the potential of autonomous operation and assess the opportunities for deploying this technology at its Ruves plant.
