Light diesel is primarily used; top circulation is also employed in some cases. This is because certain diesel components are heavy and have poor fluidity, which leads to high pressure drops in the reabsorption tower as well as serious liquid carryover in the dry gas. Shanghai Petrochemical saw significant improvement after switching to top circulation for use as the lean absorbent oil. In our newly designed heavy catalytic cracker units manufactured by SEI, top circulation is also incorporated into the process for using lean absorbent oil.

Our unit uses light diesel to wash gasoline out of the lean gas; in practice, due to the vapor-liquid equilibrium, a certain amount of diesel remains in the dry gas. This oil is separated in the liquid separation tank for the refined dry gas
