As the title suggests, after obtaining the hydraulic data related to the process, the designers responsible for the tower internals need to create drawings based on the opening rate of the trays. It is necessary to plan the opening rate of the distribution pipes as well as the proportion of the area occupied by the downcomers. Once the drawings are ready, it is also required to calculate the weight. This table provides preliminary calculation formulas for these four aspects, intended solely for those using it to understand trays or for those new to tray design work. The information presented here is quite basic; experts need not bother reading it. Updated on 2018-9-11: Added support for calculating component thickness and beam height, as well as improved calculations for downcomers. Although my knowledge is limited, it’s very suitable for beginners to practice with. I’m also a beginner; I’ll update the table again once I gain more experience or make any changes in practice. The porosity formula was incorrect; it has been corrected - 2018-09-12

On 2018-09-25, the calculation of the composite porosity was improved; an error that resulted from improper simplification of the cross-sectional area of the tower and the area of the circular openings in the porosity calculation was corrected (the porosity value is correct; it was the simplification that led to errors in the areas of the openings and the tower’s cross-sectional area)
Today, the requirements for various dimensional tolerances in the installation of tower internals are being updated; standard JBT1205-2001 is used as a reference. Since each tower is different, it is advisable to apply the same or higher requirements wherever possible.
