Does any of the more experienced colleagues know the principle behind water scrubber towers? I have several such towers used for scrubbing alkynes. I’m not familiar with the underlying mechanism of these towers; I only know that water is introduced into them, but I’m not sure whether it comes into direct contact with the medium or if it works in a manner similar to heat exchange Please explain, thank you!
Similar to mixed heat exchange, the common structure inside a tower is spraying; for more fine designs, there are scattered packing and structured packing. The goal is to use every possible method to ensure full contact with the gas. But the resistance of the rising gas also needs to be considered.
