Our company uses the low-temperature methanol washing process designed by Dalian University of Technology, with a shift gas flow rate of 470,000 m3/H and a pressure of 5.9 MPa. 430 m3/h of methanol-poor wash gas enters section D, while 330 m3/h of semi-methanol-poor wash gas enters section C. The shift gas wash tower is divided into 4 sections: A, B, C, and D. The methanol liquid flowing from section C to section B of the scrubber tower cannot have its level reduced, as it must pass through a coil heat exchanger for cooling. Has anyone encountered the same problem? How did everyone solve it?

We have been to Henan Jin Kai; their process conditions are different from ours – the operating pressure is 3.0 MPa, and desulfurization and decarburization are carried out separately. Their liquid level can drop, but they use ammonia coolers for temperature reduction. Another company is Guizhou Qianxi Chemicals; their equipment is similar to ours, with coil-type heat exchangers being used in their systems. The liquid level in their C section remains at a high level of 90% throughout. Qianxi Chemical’s explanation is that the resistance around the tube is high.
Check whether there is an exhaust valve on the methanol pipeline between E5 and E6; it would be good if there is one to allow exhaust
This situation is likely due to an air blockage in the inter-stage heat exchanger, which prevents proper flow of methanol. One can determine the cause by checking the temperature difference before and after the inter-stage ammonia cooler, as well as the opening degree of the level control valve when the ammonia cooler is operating normally and when the liquid level starts to rise.
It would be better if the DCS screen looked easier to read.

There is an exhaust valve on E06; I’m not sure whether it will open when the time comes. In such cases, the only solutions are to reduce the dosage or use a venting system. Is there no other way? ?
Methanol that has absorbed CO2 should exhibit an improved absorption effect and dissolve more CO2 after being cooled. Why is CO2 still being detected? ?
