Why does the resistance at the lower part of the upper tower rise slowly, while the resistance at the upper part decreases slowly?

Normally, the resistance is lower at the lower part and slightly higher at the upper part; this situation occurs before pressure equalization of the molecular sieve. In the lower part of the upper column, the resistance is higher than that in the upper part. During pressure equalization, the resistance at the lower part increases sharply, while it decreases sharply at the upper part. After the switch-over, the resistance stabilizes, but it differs significantly from before – the resistance at the lower part is higher and that at the upper part is lower – yet the total resistance of the upper column remains unchanged. Please provide an analysis of the reasons for this
