During the distillation startup process, why should the reflux liquid levels in the pressurized column and the atmospheric column be kept low?
1. Establish internal balance in the tower as soon as possible to reduce the accumulation of intermediate buffer materials. 2. Replace the buffer material as soon as possible to facilitate sampling for quality verification.
Without affecting the reflux, replace the defective products in the reflux tank as soon as possible to make the product at the top of the tower meet the specifications promptly.
This is related to the composition of the feed material at the beginning; certainly, there is a higher proportion of light components in the feed. With a higher proportion of light components, the reflux ratio needs to be increased. This allows for the replacement of the material in the column and the reflux tank with material that contains more heavy components, so that the material in both the column and the reflux tank meets the required standards, thereby enabling stabilization of the column

As a supplementary point, the continuity during operation may be somewhat poor; maintaining a lower liquid level can increase the available space for materials, preventing situations where materials cannot flow in when the product does not meet the required standards, or where equipment failures prevent the materials from being sent out, thus forcing a shutdown
