It was learned on August 29, 2011, that the Research Institute of Henan Coal and Chemical Group has recently partnered with Henan University to jointly carry out research on high-performance flame-retardant and antistatic polyoxymethylene technology. Polyoxymethylene is an engineering plastic with excellent comprehensive properties; it can be used to replace metals in the manufacture of various components, and it is widely applied in fields such as aerospace and electronics, with demand for it increasing year by year. However, due to its flammability and poor compatibility with most fillers, flame-retardant modification is much more difficult compared to other polymer materials, which greatly limits the application of polyoxymethylene. At present, there are no commercially available high-performance flame-retardant and antistatic polyoxymethylene products on the market.
