Have you ever seen two pumps connected in series, with the low-pressure pump providing pressure to assist the high-pressure pump in increasing pressure? How to set up the operations and interlocks? How to ensure stable operating conditions?
I’ve seen them – it’s just ordinary centrifugal pumps used in series with multi-stage high-pressure pumps
All the LNG tank farms built by our company are configured in this way. A low-pressure transfer pump is located inside the LNG tank, with a high-pressure pump connected in series outside the tank to send the liquid to the vaporizer.
They can be connected in series as long as the operating pressure of the pump permits, just like multi-stage pumps.
Many vacuum pumps are multi-stage; since a single stage isn’t sufficient to achieve the desired pressure, a larger one is needed. You can look up information on Roots pump systems
Consider pressure and flow rate, and adjust through the return line
It is possible, but it also depends on how the process is designed; if it’s a direct connection, volumetric pumps need to be considered carefully
