Although cam pumps have identical inlets and outlets, many reducers have a defined rotation direction. Moreover, if the clearance between the pump’s synchronizing gears is too large, it is not possible to reverse the pump’s rotation; doing so could cause the impellers to collide with each other. Additionally, most mechanical seals are of the multi-spring type, and whenever springs are involved, there is an issue related to the direction of rotation – it is best to avoid reversing the pump if possible
