What kind of pumps are generally used for sludge transfer?

Plunger pump: features high flow rate and pressure, as well as a high operating pressure ； The extrusion shear on the medium is very low; the price and operating costs are high ； High maintenance costs. Screw pumps can pump media with high viscosity and poor fluidity. There is no shear or agitation of the medium, no turbulent fluctuations, and the pumping is smooth. It is suitable for a wide range of liquid types and viscosity levels. Small in size, simple in structure; wear resistance is slightly poor ； The maintenance costs are high ； The manufacturing and processing requirements are high; cam rotor pumps exert very little compression and shear on the fluid, resulting in smooth pumping with almost no pulsation. The particles have strong passing ability. It has good wear resistance. The medium can be conveyed in reverse. Compact structure with small floor space; low conveying pressure and somewhat poor pressure stability

It contains a high amount of impurities and has high viscosity; it’s better to choose a screw pump. The sludge pump (single-screw pump) used in my wastewater treatment system is also performing well

It depends on the amount and viscosity of the sludge; if there is a significant amount of solids, use a screw pump, while if there is less, opt for a centrifugal pump

Screw pumps are the best choice for sludge, and they are not expensive either.
