For a certain project’s technical solution, the process fluid is pumped from outside into an open high-level tank with a capacity of 2 cubic meters, and then sent to the subsequent stage using a small pump. The volume of the high-level tank is small, and there are concerns that the liquid level may be difficult to control. Some have suggested installing a large tank on the ground; feed materials should first enter this large tank, while the high-level tank and the small pump should also be placed on the ground and connected to the large tank via valves. But in this case, the sump must be sealed to prevent overflow. The sump has a special design, so it cannot be made large. Which one is reasonable? Is there a better solution?

For the liquid level control in one of our towers, when the level is at 100%, the volume involved is only 0.3 cubic meters; normally it is kept around 50%. With a flow rate of 1–3 tons per hour (to maintain balance), the control is quite good.
It’s not complicated; our inlet is for flow control, while the outlet is for level control. If necessary, the same applies to outlet flow control and inlet level control – they are both automatic control valves.
Where you have towers, I have channels here; there is control of the inlet liquid level and control of the outlet flow rate. It seems a bit strange with the pump on the inlet side and another pump on the outlet side – I’m afraid the owner won’t approve this.
We also use pump-in/pump-out; the control valve is located at the pump outlet, and if necessary, a minimum return line can be added at the pump outlet (in front of the control valve).
Vortex pump – the control valve won’t work, right? Reflux is also difficult when the piping is small.
