There is one existing magnetic drive pump with a flow rate of 6 m3/h and a head of 20 meters. Is it feasible to adjust the pump’s flow rate and head by changing the size of the impeller? What do you think?
I don’t think it’s possible! It is easy for the cutting impeller to cause uneven balance!
Don’t the flow rate and head need to be that high? If it never needs to be this large, it can be cut. If it’s only temporary, don’t cut it; adjust it instead using the valve. Another option is to replace the motor with an inverter-driven one, using frequency conversion for regulation. It depends on your specific situation.
According to theoretical calculations, the flow rate is proportional to the first power of the impeller diameter, while the head is proportional to the square of the impeller diameter. If the flow head is excessive, considering cutting the impeller may be an option.
