There is a problem with the motor of the lubricating oil pump used for operating the compressor unit; it is necessary to switch to using the auxiliary oil pump instead. We don’t have any experience in performing such a switch yet. Could those who have experience please share the steps for making this switch? By default, your lubrication pump should be a screw pump. 1. Open the valve of the backup pump to return oil to the tank, and close the outlet valve. Run it for a while to see if it works properly. 2. Two people are involved in the operation: one slowly closes the backup return valve while the other slowly opens the outlet valve of the backup pump, to ensure stable oil pressure. 3. There’s no need to close the outlet valve of the standby pump; it’s sufficient to simply open the valve leading back to the fuel tank
If you are performing reverse pump operation, it is recommended to close the outlet of the standby pump and open the outlet of the operating pump, while closing the outlet of the operating pump as well, to coordinate the operations.
Contact the control room staff to start the backup pump first; once the pump is operating properly, shut down the main pump
Yes, first of all, it is assumed that the flow pattern and configuration of the lubricating oil system are reasonable, with the oil pump being a positive displacement pump (either a gear pump or a screw pump). Start the auxiliary pump; once it is running smoothly, shut down the main pump. If the valve configuration allows for maintenance, close the inlet and outlet valves of the main pump to carry out maintenance on it. It’s not that complicated.
