I recently bought a metering pump for testing purposes. After connecting the pipes, I installed a turbine flow meter on the outlet pipe, but the flow rate measured was quite variable – the flow rate at 80% of the scale fluctuated between 0.3 and 0.4. I was wondering if this is normal? A damper was also installed; does that mean it’s not possible to use a flow meter for measurement?

It includes instruments to adjust their parameters. I can’t remember which specific parameter it is. Anyway, both the peak value and the location can be removed; it’s something like a delay effect.
What type of flow meter should be installed at the outlet of the metering pump? Install a calibration tube at the inlet; once the stroke is adjusted, lock it in place! Alternatively, frequency conversion control can be used, with locking after calibration.
With diaphragm or piston pumps, the flow of fluid is not steady, so fluctuations in the flow meter are inevitable! For experimental use, it is better to first calibrate the actual flow rate based on the scale on the pump.
The outlet flow rate of our previous metering pump also fluctuated frequently. After trying it a few times, it was found that the fluctuations were caused by the incomplete filling of the flow meter’s tube. Later, I tried to turn down the back valve of the flow meter, and the fluctuations decreased significantly.
