Circular runout and total clearance are enough! You mean the mouth ring has uneven wear, right? ! If the pump cover flange is free from corrosion or damage, its coaxiality has been ensured during manufacturing at the time of leaving the factory.
Mm! Because the mouth ring has been eroded, it’s a bit abrasive when worn now! The worn area has been treated with red lead powder, but I need to know the actual one-sided clearance! Is there any expert who knows a good way to measure it!
Use calipers to measure the impeller and pump cover separately. Coaxiality is determined by the shoulder for positioning.
This measurement will be a bit more complicated; if there’s no issue with the pump cover shoulder, it can be used as a reference. Measure data in 4 or even more directions at the impeller collar and pump cover shoulder to determine concentricity. Measure again the deviation in concentricity between the shell mouth ring and the pump cover shoulder. This is really hard to do; the accuracy can vary a lot! ! If that doesn’t work, increase the gap slightly; the pump efficiency will be a bit lower.
