Can asbestos board be used as the gasket for the large cover of a low-temperature centrifugal pump impeller?

Our company has many centrifugal pumps. Previously, the gasket used on the pump heads was an aluminum gasket purchased from the manufacturer, and it was quite expensive. Most of these pumps are low-temperature pumps; there are only a few high-temperature pumps. Can the gasket for ordinary centrifugal pumps be made by using asbestos board ourselves? Are you all doing this too?:)
The high-temperature pump is not intended to be replaced; only the low-temperature pump is made of asbestos board
The aluminum pad can be made by oneself as well. Tetrafluoro gaskets for low temperatures work as well.
A PTFE gasket is sufficient for low-temperature pumps
One can make PTFE by themselves; it’s inconvenient to repair materials made of asbestos, and it’s neither environmentally friendly nor healthy.
How are aluminum pads made? Do you process the materials you buy yourself? We haven’t done it before; could you explain it?
Do you use a Teflon sheet for cutting? It seems that Teflon sheets are too hard, resulting in uneven cuts. How do you guys do it?

It is best to use metal gaskets for the pump cover gaskets; aluminum gaskets can be made by processing aluminum sheets oneself. Asbestos gaskets have already been banned due to their environmental harm and toxicity to human health.
