As shown in the figure, there is a tank, and the liquid level in the tank remains at around 50 cm at all times. The liquid is ordinary industrial water, with a flow rate of 30 m3/h and a head of 6 meters. For this liquid level, is it better to use a submersible pump or an underwater pump? Since there isn’t enough space on site, these two options are being considered. Are there any other better solutions? For example, isn’t it better to install a self-priming pump on top of the cover rather than an underwater or submersible pump?
When a submersible pump is used in water, the motor of an underwater pump is located above the surface; so is this height suitable only for submersible pumps? Vertical or horizontal?
What is the groove depth? The flow rate and head seem to be relatively low; if a submersible pump can meet the requirements, then use it – it’s much more convenient and hassle-free compared to submersible pumps
The depth of the groove is a little over one meter, but doesn’t the water inlet of the submersible pump also have a certain height? In that case, it might not be able to draw in water.
Check the water temperature; submersible pumps are generally used in temperatures below 40 degrees. At lower temperatures, both types perform similarly, and repairs are still necessary in either case
Agree with what was said above: the head is too low, so it’s not a good option; self-priming pumps are more convenient
A self-priming pump will work, as well as a vertical tank pump that can run idle (a submersible pump). Suction pumps may be a bit more expensive.
