If the damage is severe enough to be unrepaired, a new pump casing must be installed. The pump shaft of No.2 water pump is generally made of carbon steel, but it can also be damaged due to factors such as manufacturing quality, use, or installation. The pump shaft may develop cracks, bending, wear on the journal, damaged threads, etc., and breakage accidents may also occur. If the damage is severe and cannot be repaired, a new shaft should be replaced. The No.3 impeller is an important working component of the water pump, and it is made of cast iron. It is also prone to damage due to reasons such as manufacturing quality and usage. The impeller may develop cracks; cavitation can cause pits or holes to form on its surface, and prolonged erosion can thin the blades or lead to uneven wear, or even cause them to be shattered by foreign objects. Some defects can be repaired; some defects cannot be repaired, and in such cases a new impeller should be replaced. The bushing of the No.4 sliding bearing is made of copper-tin alloy, which has very poor wear resistance; it is one of the components most prone to wear and damage. The bushing can generally be repaired or replaced with a new one. The average service life of rolling bearings is generally 5,000 hours, but they can also wear out or get damaged due to improper installation, prolonged use, or poor maintenance. Except for a few individual components that can be replaced with new ones, rolling bearings generally require the entire unit to be replaced. The No.5 ring, also known as a leakage-reduction or wear-reduction ring, is one of the parts in water pumps that wears out most easily. After wear, it can be repaired or replaced with a new one. When replacing a new leak-reducing ring, its inner diameter should be set according to the outer diameter at the impeller inlet. If the outer diameter of the impeller’s inlet is worn, it can be turned to remove grooves and ovalities, after which a leak-reducing ring with a reduced inner diameter can be installed. The outer diameter of the impeller’s inlet can generally be turned three times. Over time, Packing No.6 will harden and lose its elasticity, causing the water pump to leak air or water; it is generally necessary to replace it with new packing. The oil seal of pump No.7 is a rubber product that is prone to wear and aging, and usually requires replacement with a new one.
