Can mechanical seals be repaired and reused?

When we replace the pump’s flow-related components, we also replace the mechanical seal at the same time; the old seal is no longer needed. A set of mechanical seals costs several thousand yuan. They prevent leakage during operation, and the sealing surfaces show little wear after disassembly. Is it possible to repair them and use them again?
A new seal is not necessarily as good as an old one. If not, it just needs to be sealed; once the pump is removed, it has to be replaced. If there is a grinding tool available, minor scratches on the ring surface can be repaired by grinding so that it can be used again
I’m not sure if the O-ring will still be able to provide a seal after being compressed and reinstalled
It’s better to replace the O-ring; it doesn’t cost much anyway
Old, reusable seals are often used. O-rings can be purchased separately.
Sealing surfaces with minor wear can be ground, and after grinding, specialized instruments are used to check whether the pattern on the sealing surface is uniform.
If the old seal is in good condition, it can be used; the O-ring needs to be replaced
As long as the friction pair does not leak and the O-ring shows no leakage, it can be used until the end of its service life
The mechanic is afraid that it will leak again if it’s installed, and that he’ll have to remove it; now he replaces it with a new one every time it needs maintenance
You can make some workwear and do some airtight sealing. Will it definitely not leak once the new one is installed?
