Are they all asking the pump factory to purchase motors externally and install them on the pumps? Is it necessary to specify the motor brand and manufacturer?
You can specify the motor manufacturer; according to your requirements, the pump manufacturer will purchase motors from that specified manufacturer
Sure, the manufacturer doesn’t have to worry about the delivery time for the motors.
1. The purchaser can order the components as a set: pump + motor; the pump manufacturer is responsible for purchasing the motor and carrying out assembly and testing. 2. The purchaser can specify a brand for the motor; the pump manufacturer is still responsible for purchasing the motor and conducting assembly and testing. 3. The purchaser can purchase the motor themselves, either having it delivered to the pump manufacturer for assembly and testing, or having it sent to their own location for assembly (however, this does not exempt the pump manufacturer from carrying out performance tests on the pump)
Generally, it is the buyer who specifies the requirements and the brand, after which the pump manufacturer selects the motor based on those customer requirements. The pump can be operated once it arrives at the user’s location and is installed :)

The first method is the conventional approach, in which the pump manufacturer supplies the complete set (including the pump, drive unit, all auxiliary equipment, etc.). It’s like when you buy a branded computer: the manufacturer bears full responsibility for the pump system and is accountable for ensuring that the equipment is properly matched. No matter what issues arise, as long as they fall within the warranty period, you can turn to the supplier who provided the entire set of equipment. The second option is that, on the basis of a complete set supplied by the pump factory, you as the owner can specify the motor brand you desire. It’s similar to when you buy a Lenovo computer and need to specify a certain CPU; undoubtedly, this option is the most expensive of all. Generally, three or more motor suppliers are identified, and the assembly manufacturer obtains quotes from them to secure the best price for you. Thirdly, the owner can purchase the motor themselves, which can then be shipped to the pump factory as a complete set. Although you can also ask the manufacturer to take full responsibility for the entire set, during the design and manufacturing process, the addition of contractual and design-related interfaces, as well as difficulties in coordinating the transfer of intermediate design documents and delivery dates, require more effort from the owner or the design institute. Therefore, if you want to save money, you cannot avoid putting in more effort. Another point is that just because you are the owner, it doesn’t mean you can get more discounts and manufacturing resources from the motor manufacturer. Because your bargaining power in front of motor manufacturers might not even compare to that of large equipment manufacturers; after all, you might purchase only a hundred motors, or even just a few, while large equipment manufacturers order tens of thousands of motors from motor factories each year – it’s a completely different order of magnitude. The last option is to buy it and assemble it yourself, just like buying parts to build a computer. Pump manufacturers generally will not take full responsibility for the complete set of equipment; if most problems arise during this process, you may face situations where different manufacturers shift blame onto each other, making it difficult to resolve all the issues that need to be taken into account when assembling the equipment as part of a complete system. So, this is the least recommended option.
