The project requires a pump for handling plain water at room temperature, with a flow rate of 8 m3/h and a head of 40 m; it is also necessary that the pump be portable. Since water is to be drawn from a 1-cubic-meter tank, a submersible pump was initially planned to be used. However, after consulting several suppliers, few pumps were available that could meet the required lift, and all of them required a liquid level of over 40 cm to operate safely, which did not meet the requirement to empty the tank as much as possible. I’m now considering using a self-priming pump – is there one that can meet the flow and head requirements without requiring fixed installation? Are diaphragm pumps and piston pumps feasible? Discussion is welcome~~~
My application requires a stable flow rate, while diaphragm pumps typically produce pulsed flow – I’m not sure if this is suitable

It seems that self-priming pumps can also not meet the requirement of completely draining the water at the bottom of the tank
Yes, but we want to lower the liquid level as much as possible. The total liquid level was already 1 meter, but the submersible pump stopped pumping when there was still 40 cm of liquid left – this is unacceptable
Centrifugal pumps are not that stable either; an electric diaphragm pump can be equipped with a back pressure valve, and a vertical power-sealed self-priming pump can meet your requirements

I think a pneumatic diaphragm pump could be considered.
