Our plant has a 500m3 storage tank for waste sulfuric acid. Due to the presence of carbon particles and minerals in this waste sulfuric acid, it turns into a jelly-like substance over time as a result of long-term storage. Given the large volume of stored liquid and the high level thereof, it is not possible to clean it manually at the moment. Now we consider placing a pipeline pump in the discharge pipe at the bottom to extract the jelly acid. Which pump should I choose? Let me explain that the fluidity of the jelly acid inside the tube is not particularly good. It flows out under its own pressure, but the amount is too small.

I agree with the previous comment – a positive displacement pump would be suitable; diaphragm pumps with particles in them might not be appropriate. A cheaper and simpler option is a gear pump. After all, it’s only for temporary, one-time use, so if possible, it’s more cost-effective to borrow a pump from elsewhere and clean it after use. If it is difficult to feed liquid into the pump inlet, it is recommended to apply a certain amount of pressure inside the tank to facilitate the smooth discharge of the material in the tank

As a temporary solution, you can use a plastic pneumatic diaphragm pump to remove it.

It’s better to use a positive displacement pump; a gear pump is a more practical and suitable choice.
