I need help – what is the purpose of the flat steel piece at the inlet of the magnetic pump?
Vortex baffles are used to break up vortices.
There’s a magnetic pump on the device, but it doesn’t have this feature; thanks for letting me know

This is used to prevent the liquid from rotating at the pump inlet; with this baffle in place, the rotation of the liquid before it enters the impeller is prevented (pre-rotation). Disadvantages of pre-rotation: First, it increases the tendency for cavitation in the pump; second, it causes additional vibration in the pump due to uneven inlet flow speeds; third, it reduces the pump’s head. Of course, the extent of these negative effects is minimal. Pumps with higher flow rates have wider inlets, which allow for greater pre-rotation, and that’s why such a design is used. In contrast, pumps with lower flow rates have narrow inlets, and the presence of this baffle reduces the inlet area, leading to disturbances in the flow – negative effects that generally prevent the use of this design
