While ensuring proper lubrication of the equipment, it is necessary to fill the pump and remove air from it, so that the seal has access to lubricating fluid; only then can a liquid film be formed, ensuring the proper operation of the seal. For standby pumps, if the fluid contains water, rotating the pump or attempting to start it immediately can cause leakage in the seal. Therefore, it is crucial to keep standby equipment in good condition during winter!

Switching the water pump between operation modes is a normal practice. During periods of shutdown, some fluids and impurities can seep into the sealing surfaces; if the pump remains shut down for an extended period, these impurities can easily form scale on those surfaces. Therefore, before restarting the water pump, it is essential to turn the shaft by hand, paying attention to any stiffness in the bearings and seals. In severe cases, it needs to be disassembled for inspection. Do not start or stop it arbitrarily, as this will lead to unnecessary repairs that are even more troublesome.
