I have just entered the vacuum industry and have been self-studying for some time. I realize that the concept of \"pressure difference\" is very important in vacuum systems. May I ask what the pressure difference of a pump represents and how it should be utilized?
Pressure difference is just a difference in pressure; what’s the problem? The pressure difference of the pump? Pump outlet pressure minus inlet pressure? Pumps are generally referred to by head rather than pressure difference.

Differential pressure is the difference between pressure values; vacuum degree represents this differential pressure and is used to describe negative pressure, which is the difference between atmospheric pressure and absolute pressure (atmospheric pressure > absolute pressure). Pressure difference is the difference between the pressures at the two ends, right? The pressure difference of a pump is the difference between the pressure at the inlet and the outlet; it is generally referred to as head. A low pressure difference indicates that the flow rate is not good
Pump pressure difference, purrrp differential pressure, refers to the difference between the discharge pressure and the suction pressure of the pump. It represents the increase in energy (pressure energy) obtained by the liquid after passing through the pump. Changes in the pressure difference of the pump will affect its discharge pressure and power. If there is a control valve at the pump outlet, the calculation of the pump pressure drop is as follows: 1. Calculate the total pressure drop in the pipeline. 2. Take 25–30% of this total pressure drop as the pressure drop across the control valve, provided that this value is not less than 0.5 KG. 3. Provide this value to the automation team and the manufacturer in order to determine the CV value of the valve. 4. Calculate the valve pressure drop based on the specifications provided back from them (this is generally not necessary), unless there are other operating conditions that result in significant differences. Additional note: The CV value is a characteristic of the valve, provided by the manufacturer; some reference books offer recommended values. It is advisable to choose a relatively large pressure drop for the control valve; otherwise, its regulating performance will be poor!
