Boiler hot water, soft water, temperature 100°C. Parameters such as head, flow rate, pressure, power, etc. can be determined by referring to the old pump, since it is being used as a replacement for it. However, the old pump is a stainless steel vertical pipeline pump (with the pump casing made of stainless steel), and it can handle temperatures of around 80°C. Switch to a TD pipeline circulation pump, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 110°C; however, the pump casing is made of cast iron HT200, while the impeller can be made of stainless steel. Does the cast iron material have an impact on soft water?
It depends on your requirements, but as the original poster said, it’s recommended to use stainless steel; at the very least, carbon steel of grade 2 should be used.
Using cast iron at this temperature is a short-term solution; normally, stainless steel should be chosen, at least stainless steel of the martensitic type
Stainless steel is the best; cast iron requires frequent maintenance over time
Soft water is water from which calcium and magnesium ions have been removed. If the pipe is made of iron, then the material of the pump doesn’t matter.
