In one of the pumps at the factory, the outlet pipe is arranged as shown in the picture; the pipeline vibrates greatly, and the electric gate valve for controlling water flow also vibrates significantly. This bend part often cracks due to these vibrations, and it has had to be welded and repaired many times. Is the layout of this outlet pipeline unreasonable? Would installing a flexible connector at the outlet help? The outlet pressure is approximately 0.5 MPa.
We have encountered situations like yours before. It is caused by two reasons. First, the pump itself vibrates heavily, either because its concentricity is not properly adjusted or it is operating under abnormal conditions. Second is pipe vibration caused by water flow impact. This problem occurs under dual-force conditions. Is your pump experiencing overcurrent?
First, we need to look at the root cause – whether there are issues with pump alignment, lubrication, dynamic balance, foundation bolts, etc. We must find a way to control the source of vibration. There is a high possibility of weak welding; it’s a problem with the welding skill. Furthermore, check whether there is any strain in the pipeline connections, and pay attention to the order of connection. It is possible to try fixing it to the ground using a combination of support and pressure. It is not possible to see the exact path of the pipes; it may be a problem with the pipe layout. It is recommended to use elbows with larger transition radii. Also, you can try using a soft connection. With such significant vibration in this pipeline, doesn’t it affect the pump? Is there an interaction between pipeline vibration and pump vibration? What is the vibration level of the pump?
The horizontal and vertical vibrations at the bearings at both ends of the pump should not exceed 6.
