I just installed a centrifugal pump with a lockhart pump; after it was started, seal water leaked from outside the shaft sleeve. When the seal water supply was turned off, no leakage of dust-water occurred. What could be the reason for this? (The inlet pressure is 60 kilograms, and the outlet pressure is over 70 kilograms. There was no leakage when testing the pump without applying pressure.)
What flushing plan? Plan32?

The reason why no dust or water leaks out after the seal water is turned off is that the sealing between the seal water and the inside of the pump is good, so no leakage occurs into the seal water chamber; whereas when seal water is introduced, leakage happens because the seal between the water seal and the volute is damaged. Or it may be caused by excessive sealing water pressure.

Under normal circumstances, the mechanical seals of gear pump units are assembled as a single unit; no leakage occurs when the sealing water is turned off, which indicates that the sealing performance is good. If leakage occurs at the shaft sleeve when the sealing water is turned on, it suggests there is a problem with the O-ring of the stationary ring.
