Dear sea friends, may I ask what are the differences between PLAN53A, PLAN53B, and PLAN53C?
For 53A, nitrogen pressure must be maintained continuously; nitrogen comes into contact with the isolation fluid. As the pressure increases, the solubility of nitrogen in the isolation fluid rises, which can lead to gas release during sealed operation and thus instability in the liquid film. Therefore, it is generally used in conditions with pressures below 1 MPa. 53B is pressurized by a bladder accumulator; since nitrogen does not come into contact with the isolation fluid, it can operate at higher pressures than 53A. The 53C also has a pressure booster cylinder that increases the pressure in the sealed chamber proportionally, using this increased pressure as the pressure for the isolation fluid; it is typically used in situations where there are significant fluctuations in the pressure within the sealed chamber
Please refer to the legend of the three mechanical seal options.

I had intended to look for a schematic diagram, but it turns out that a friend above had already shared one, and it was exactly the same as the one I wanted to take a screenshot of – haha, it’s from Fox’s training materials. Haha, I suggest the original poster take a look at API682 through the system. (There are probably no relevant API standards on the forum; there are plenty of them on Baidu: lol)
I have API682; I just want to know what are the differences in the operating conditions for 53A, 53B, and 53C.
There’s a telepathic connection between us:lol:handshake
The API specifies the requirements for applicable operating conditions.
All three are related to the pressure in the sealing chamber; the differences lie in the type of sealing, the properties of the medium, and the structure of the impeller; P53B is mostly a back-pressure type mechanical seal; pressure needs to be applied before introducing the medium. Model 53B features a siphon circulation system and a pumping ring, while model 53ac has only a pumping ring.
