How long is the typical service life of a mechanical pump? This includes the service life of the pump casing, impeller, and mechanical seal; this service life is not the same as the manufacturer’s warranty period, right?
The actual service life is directly related to the material used, the reliability of pump operation, the suitability of operating parameters, fluctuations in operating conditions, installation, operation, disassembly, maintenance, as well as any unexpected events. Therefore, the service life refers to the expected duration of use under conditions where none of these factors pose any problems; however, in practice this is often not achievable, which is why the actual service life is usually shorter than the expected one. Warranty period: As the name implies, it refers to the time during which quality is guaranteed; in a narrow sense, it is synonymous with the repair period. It is the promise made by the merchant to the user. However, as time of use increases, the condition of the device only gets worse, and the reasons for this may be the factors mentioned above. Manufacturers cannot guarantee performance over a long period of use, which is why the warranty period for such devices is shorter than their actual useful life.
The service life of a mechanical pump is highly dependent on the operating conditions; abnormal operation, as well as deviations from the pump’s normal operating parameters, can significantly shorten its service life. It is also related to the corrosivity of the working chamber medium
The API610 standard can be referenced; the design life should be at least 20 years
