We have a Galite liquefied gas pump, model 11G53B with double-end seals. Since last year, a large amount of liquefied gas has been leaking out from the seals when the pump is in operation; the problem goes away once it starts running steadily. What could be causing this phenomenon?

I think next time, I should turn on the feed line or outlet for a while to allow the liquefied gas to push against the medium, and then thoroughly check the white oil system; that should help improve the situation

After reading the replies above, don’t you empty the liquefied gas pump before starting it there? ! ! (Galite’s liquefied gas pumps are vertical pumps, right?) For pumps used for light hydrocarbons, regardless of their design, it is necessary to fully fill the pump before starting it up. This means evacuating the vaporized medium from the highest point of the pump until the ice in the pipelines begins to melt. At the same time, the pump should be rotated manually a few times to allow any air trapped in the seals to escape. Otherwise, dry friction will occur at the seals, leading to leaks! Once the gas is carried away by the medium, there is no longer any leakage, but this will **reduce the service life of the seal!** !
