I have used several self-priming centrifugal pumps, from different manufacturers, but they don’t have any self-priming capability at all
It’s not that the pump lacks a self-priming function; rather, there is a leak in the check valve of the pump’s inlet pipe, or there is an air leak in that pipe. It’s not good to rush to draw conclusions before the issue is clarified; this is for reference only.
What type of self-priming pump are you using? Is there water inside the pump chamber before it is started?
There is no lack of water in the pump chamber, and the check valve is also in good condition. The density of the medium is 1.83, the suction height is 1.5 meters, and there are no leaks in the suction pipeline; it’s not clear why self-priming is not possible
If there is no problem with the filling pump, it is recommended to monitor the liquid level; try again once the level reaches a certain point. It’s necessary to explore things step by step, and also check whether there are any other pipes in the tank
Are there any errors in the parameters used for pump selection? Additionally, a density of 1.83 also affects the self-priming height – was this taken into account during the selection process?
Take a look at the previous image; the pump isn’t running in reverse, is it?
This is the working condition encountered earlier; there are no pictures anymore! I just remember that it was a manufacturer from Jiangsu, but the pump definitely didn’t reverse direction! The height of Yang Cheng is at least 20 meters, and the flow rate is around 30 cubic meters; there should be no issues with the design calculations. Many units in my area have reported that the self-priming pumps are not effective enough. I’m not sure whether it’s due to the immature technology of the self-priming pumps themselves or the immature technology of the pump manufacturers we chose. Now I dare not use them anymore!
If the selection of the self-priming pump is correct, the process flow is appropriate, the operation is proper, and there are no faults with the pump itself, then there will be no problems – it can be used with confidence
