In the case of stepped shafts (where the shaft sleeve can be fixed to the shaft), such as in AY-type pumps or ZA/ZE pumps, after the seal gland is secured with the pump cover bolts, the positioning block can be removed and does not need to be fixed. If it is the optical axis, after the sealing gland and the pump cover are bolted together, the shaft sleeve needs to be fixed to the shaft using a drive ring, and then the positioning block is removed. It is necessary to tighten the components by assembling the moving ring, shaft sleeve, and stationary ring gland into one unit; thereafter, a positioning block is inserted into the bearing slot to prevent axial movement of the shaft sleeve. At this point, the sealing elastic element (i.e., the spring) is compressed to its designed position, resulting in a certain degree of sealing compression – this is also the compression level that exists after the seal is installed in the pump body. The purpose of the positioning block is to ensure that the seal already has sufficient compression for effective sealing before it is installed on the pump. Therefore, the pressure testing must also simulate the sealing conditions under installation to guarantee the accuracy of the test
