I checked the product manuals of plunger pump models from different manufacturers, and all of them specify that the pressure in the pump housing should be below 4 bar, meaning that the inlet pressure cannot exceed 4 bar. It is said to be to prevent damage to the bearing seal. I would like to ask whether this is the case throughout the piston pump industry If one wants a model with an inlet pressure of 1 MPa, does it have to be custom-made? Well, what impact can high import pressure have on the oil release pressure? After all, the oil discharge port is usually connected to the inlet oil tank; if the pressure in the inlet oil tank is high, won’t it prevent oil from flowing out through the discharge port?
Should a glue-applying twin-screw pump be considered?
As far as I understand, screw pumps are generally used for medium pressure; when the outlet pressure is too high, piston pumps are more suitable. Also, I would like to ask whether screw pumps have poorer sealing properties? I read in the book that it’s not suitable for gasoline, kerosene, and things like that.
Another issue is that piston pump designs have very high outlet pressures. But the actual operating pressure in my case won’t be that high. So how should I choose the motor power? If I select a motor with lower power, could it get damaged due to exceeding its capacity during use?
In ordinary twin-screw extruders, there is a gap between the rotor and the bushing; otherwise, wear would occur. So there is leakage, and the sealing is poor. Ours uses adhesive; there is no gap between the rotor and the bushing, resulting in excellent sealing. Therefore, both the self-priming capacity and the outlet pressure can be set quite high.

In plunger pumps, it is mainly the large and small ends of the connecting rod that are affected; in particular, the small end cannot withstand too high an inlet pressure. Excessively high inlet pressure causes the pin at the small end to be under stress on only one side, which can lead to a lack of oil and the failure to form an oil film, thereby accelerating wear. If there is a requirement for high inlet pressure, please contact us; our plunger pumps use rolling bearings for both the rod ends and the connecting parts, so this problem does not occur.
